Master of Science & Master of Medical Science degree

The Centre for Musculoskeletal Studies, within the School of Surgery, provides opportunity for part-time and full-time enrolments leading to Master of Science [MSc], Master of Medical Science [MMSc] and Doctor of Philosophy [PhD] degrees. These programs are offered through the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Science at The University of Western Australia.

The Centre aims to provide a high quality postgraduate supervision experience for physiotherapists, wishing to extend their research interests in the neuro-musculoskeletal area. Candidates for the MSc degree would typically be qualified physiotherapy graduates. Normally those eligible to undertake the Master of Science would have completed a BSc [honours], a 4 year undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy with Honours, have a Post Graduate Diploma, or a Masters preliminary course work, or have developed research experience in a related field.

Course Duration

Minimum one year full-time (or equivalent part-time), with the prerequisite experience listed above. [Please note: candidates may be able to transfer their enrolment to the Doctoral program under certain conditions].

Course Structure

The academic thesis would be completed under direct supervision in addition to attendance at seminars and tutorials concerning research methods.
